Yet another rule I often ignore is food, but can you sate Hunger while resting without a ration? That’s not interesting, but applying more inventory pressure is. My Shadowdark group always asks if an item takes a slot and hopes the answer is no, wanting to take more.
Rations are required to rest (not that I ever remember that). Using them frees up a slot, but means deciding ahead of time how much you can rest before going into a dungeon. It also makes finding food interesting too, whether it comes from another party, an NPC, or some other means.
