What Desires do your players have? How does that help you design the adventures you run? Should you always give them their desires? Probably, but never as directly as they’d have otherwise.
My Shadowdark group wants to revive a slime they found as a pet. I’m good with that, but they’re going to have to quest for it. They were fairly sure they could make it happen in a session. I’m going to make it a full arc where they have to work with a disembodied sorcerer.
Meet their desires, but make them work for it. Getting what you want instantly is boring. It’s certainly not in the hero’s journey.
